Foster Boy

This is the story of a boy who is hopelessly lost in the foster care system.

Goodbye

I am shutting down FosterBoy immediately.

I was asked to do so by people whom I admire and respect.

I understand their point of view and I will do what they ask although I don't necessarily agree with them. I think this blog has done some good and I am sorry to see it go.

I will continue to write about Judah but it will be in a personal journal.

I appreciate your readership and especially your thoughful comments.

Bye. Thanks for it while it was here. Good Luck to Judah and you and the rest of the family.

Hashem should grant you a continuing flow of clarity and wisdom with which to deal with Judah and your other children and anything else that comes along.

What could possibly havebeen the harm, according to the people you like and respect? Who did they think fosterboy was hurting?

And what does lazar brody have to do with it?

And why do you let people tell you what to do?

I don't even know who Lazer Brody is.

There are confidentiality issues that I cannot overcome. When you sign up for foster care, you have a duty of confidentiality to your foster kids. Because of my other blogs, many people know who I am. Some people can also figure it out by reading this blog.

Even though I am using fake names, anyone who knows me well knows who 'Judah' and 'David' are. Therefore, I could be compromising my duty of confidentiality.

There is no way to write effectively (and realistically; I have no use for writing fiction) and solve this problem so I don't see any choice but to close it down.

I am saddened because I think the blog was useful in bringing the plight of Jewish foster kids to the attention of people who might not otherwise have been aware of it.

I had hoped that it would also raise awareness of the tremendous pressure that OHEL is under, both financially and manpower-wise (and of the extraordinary work that they do under tremendously difficult circumstances).

Finally, I had the crazy hope that maybe we would identify someone who would be willing to adopt Judah and would reach out to me through this blog.
